Cividep India’s research report and documentary on women’s labour at home and in factories

As part of the STITCH programme, our consortium member Cividep recently developed a research report titled "The Home & The World of Work", which documents the reality of women working in Karnataka’s (India) garment industry.

Alongside the report, Cividep presented "Garment Kelsa: Women & Work", a documentary that brings these stories to life on screen.

Both the report and the film paint a stark picture of exploitation and persistent low wages in the absence of an organised labour force, physical and mental depletion of the workers, time poverty, and limited intergenerational mobility.
